Golf Industry Veteran Lee Dong-jun, Chairman of GA Korea, Passes Away
[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] Lee Dong-jun (photo), a senior figure in the Korean golf industry and chairman of GA Korea, passed away on the 18th at the age of 83.
Chairman Lee operated domestic and international golf courses such as Gold CC in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, Korea CC, and Korea Public, contributing to the tourism development of the golf industry. He served as the vice president of the Korea Golf Association for over 10 years and worked to nurture and discover "golf prodigies" by running the GA Resort Golf Academy.
The deceased also showed great interest in social contribution activities, such as helping North Korean children with tuberculosis and sending formula milk to North Korean children. He has donated neighbor aid funds and scholarship funds to Yongin City for several years. Recently, he also made donations to neighbors affected by flood damage.
He was awarded the Silver Tower Industrial Medal in 2007 and the International Trade Credit Award from the Korean Arbitration Association in 2009.

Survived by his son, Lee Yong-seong, president of GA Korea, among others. The funeral parlor is set up at Sinchon Severance Hospital. The funeral procession will be held at 8 a.m. on the 21st.
