View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] As Typhoon Nanmadol approaches, all schools in Busan will switch to remote classes on the 19th, and some schools in Pohang will implement closures and remote classes.
According to the Ministry of Education on the 19th, all kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in Busan will conduct full remote classes. In Ulsan, six schools will adjust their attendance times, and five schools will conduct remote classes. An elementary school in Ulsan changed its field trip schedule to Busan from the 19th to the 21st.
In Pohang, one kindergarten and two elementary schools will close, and 12 schools will conduct remote classes. One middle school adjusted its attendance time. One middle school located on Ulleungdo Island will also conduct remote classes.
In Gyeongnam, 130 schools will operate normal attendance but may adjust academic operations at the discretion of the school principal depending on weather conditions. Other schools will operate normally.
The Ministry of Education urged safety management in disaster-prone areas to prevent damage from Typhoon Nanmadol and requested active consideration of academic operation adjustments in regions directly affected by the typhoon.
As the wind and flood disaster warning level was raised from 'caution' to 'alert' on the 18th, the Ministry of Education is operating a dedicated situation management team and conducting emergency duty to inspect school facilities and protect student safety.
