[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Lee Junhyung] World-class companies and public institutions selected by the government are conducting new recruitment on a scale of 500 people.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it held the '2022 World-Class Job Festival' on the 19th at COEX in Seoul together with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. The World-Class Job Festival is a job fair specialized for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies, marking its 10th anniversary this year. The event aims to introduce excellent SMEs and mid-sized companies to young talents and provide employment opportunities.
This year, 54 world-class companies participated in the event. Since 2011, the government has selected and nurtured SMEs and mid-sized companies with growth potential and export competitiveness as world-class companies. The results of the project are also visible. As a result of supporting 253 companies selected as world-class companies from 2011 to 2018, both sales and exports increased by 42% compared to before selection. Additionally, among the 156 companies that were SMEs at the time of world-class selection, 31% (49 companies) have grown into mid-sized companies.
Public institutions also participated in this event. The participating public institutions include IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute, and 12 others. The companies and public institutions participating in the event plan to newly recruit a total of 500 personnel through this event.
Participating companies and public institutions conduct one-on-one recruitment consultations at the offline recruitment hall set up at COEX. In addition, various employment support programs for young job seekers, such as excellent company recruitment briefings and resume consulting, are also operated.
At the opening ceremony held on the day, an award ceremony for world-class contributors was also held. Thirteen commendations from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy and twelve commendations from the Minister of SMEs and Startups were awarded to world-class companies and supporting institution contributors who showed excellent performance in technology acquisition and export expansion. The award ceremony for the 'World-Class Innovation Ideathon,' where young people propose ideas to companies, was also held together.
