Police to Guard Civil Servant and Lawyer Exam Sites... Improved with Linked Patrol Method
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The police will conduct security duties for the national civil service examination and the bar examination using a linked patrol method. Until now, police officers were fixedly assigned to each test site and stood guard until the exam ended.
On the 17th, the National Police Agency announced that, after consultations with the Ministry of Personnel Management and the Ministry of Justice, the security duty method at test sites overseen by these ministries will be improved from fixed assignment of officers to linked patrols. With this agreement, the police will no longer assign officers fixedly to test sites requested by other institutions, including local governments. However, if there is a clear risk to public safety and the relevant institution continuously requests fixed police assignments, the necessity will be reviewed and willing officers will be assigned. Additionally, to prepare for unforeseen situations, measures such as ▲ establishing a hotline between the exam organizing institutions and local police stations ▲ rapid dispatch in case of special incidents reported via 112 ▲ strengthening 112-linked patrols will be implemented.

Until now, the police have fixedly assigned 1 to 2 officers per test site for the national civil service examination overseen by the Ministry of Personnel Management and the bar examination overseen by the Ministry of Justice. However, for the College Scholastic Ability Test, officers are only fixedly assigned during entry time, and linked patrols are conducted during the exam time, leading to criticisms that the security duty system is unfair compared to other institutions' test sites. Moreover, fixedly assigned officers mainly performed tasks such as guiding examinees and managing parking, rather than their primary duties, raising concerns about security gaps. Considering these security duty conditions, the National Police Agency has been working with related organizations to improve the security duty methods at test sites.
