Ministry of SMEs Holds Meeting to Address Challenges Faced by Ppuri Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] On the 16th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it held a 'Root Industry Companies Difficulty Resolution Meeting' with seven root industry companies at the Korea Mold Technology Education Center located in the Sihwa Industrial Complex, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi Province.
This meeting was organized to listen to the vivid on-site voices of root industry companies greatly affected by the triple challenges of high inflation, high interest rates, and high exchange rates, in addition to external conditions such as the Ukraine crisis, and to seek policy response measures.
On the day, Minister Lee Young of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups inspected the educational environment for employees by touring mold-related educational facilities for the root industry, including the smart factory model and computer classrooms within the Mold Technology Education Center.
During the subsequent meeting, Kim Seongdeok, Director of the National Root Industry Promotion Center, presented the current status of root industry companies, followed by a free discussion among the attendees.
The companies expressed that they are facing great difficulties due to the triple challenges and proposed various opinions such as alleviating manpower shortages, introducing a delivery price linkage system, supporting carbon neutrality, and supporting the establishment of a stable production system.

Minister Lee said, "Korea ranks fifth in the world in manufacturing scale, and manufacturing, which has the highest proportion within the industry worldwide, is the core of our country," adding, "The manufacturing competitiveness we have achieved is thanks to the passion and efforts of all root industry workers." He continued, "We plan to thoroughly review the difficulties raised on-site today and reflect them in policies as much as possible," and added, "To overcome crises such as the triple challenges, we will actively support alleviating manpower and financial shortages, which are the main difficulties of root industry representatives, as well as modernizing and automating poor working environments."
