The program was designed to increase understanding of the aircraft maintenance field and the duties of aircraft maintenance technicians, motivating students in their career choices and improving their employment capabilities.
Thirty-five students from the Department of Aircraft Maintenance toured the Korean Air Tech Center's commercial aircraft maintenance factory, aircraft paint shop, and military aircraft MRO maintenance site, directly observing the aircraft maintenance system and participating in education on the basic duties and qualification requirements of aircraft maintenance technicians.
In particular, the students showed great enthusiasm for the practical training in the electrical, electronic, and instrumentation (R.E.I) lab, where they could experience maintenance firsthand using wires and tools actually used in aircraft maintenance.
Park Jun-yi, a third-year student in the Department of Aircraft Maintenance at Silla University, said, "Seeing the aircraft maintenance center in person allowed me to gain the knowledge and experience required on site. I will actively participate in the department's programs to steadily accumulate practical experience and achieve my dream of becoming an aircraft maintenance technician."
Kim Myung-jun, head of the Department of Aircraft Maintenance at Silla University, said, "We are pleased to provide students with the opportunity to experience the dream of becoming an aircraft maintenance technician at the Korean Air Tech Center, with which we have an industry-academia cooperation agreement. I hope this experience has enhanced the students' aircraft maintenance job competencies."
