Jeonnam Police Implement 'Comprehensive Security Measures' for Chuseok Holiday, No Major Incidents or Accidents
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Jeonnam Police announced on the 13th that as a result of implementing the 'Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Security Measures' to ensure public safety, the total number of 112 emergency calls decreased by an average of 4.2% per day compared to last year's Chuseok holiday, maintaining a peaceful security status without major incidents or accidents.
Considering the increase in traffic volume and 112 calls during the Chuseok holiday from the 29th of last month to the 12th, Jeonnam Police Agency focused on ▲preemptive crime suppression through inspection of crime-vulnerable factors ▲visible patrol activities in vulnerable areas ▲and securing traffic safety.
First, the Crime Prevention Diagnosis Team (CPO) at police stations conducted security diagnoses (4,203 times) and promoted crime prevention and reporting guidelines (4,799 times) for vulnerable facilities such as financial institutions, unmanned stores, and jewelry shops. They also listened to residents' opinions and carried out joint visible patrol activities with cooperative groups (4,849 members) in necessary locations.
During the comprehensive security activity period, mobile solar-powered CCTV was installed and operated in crime-vulnerable locations such as ▲agricultural fields ▲wharfs ▲main village entrances and exits to create a crime-prevention environment so that residents could spend the holiday with peace of mind.
Additionally, anticipating an increase in domestic violence reports during the holiday, monitoring was conducted on households with a risk of recurrence (752 cases) before the holiday. As a result of meticulous management, domestic violence reports decreased by an average of 1.4% per day compared to the previous year.
In the traffic sector, personnel were proactively deployed in expected congested areas such as park cemeteries and major intersections to manage traffic focusing on smooth flow. Utilizing available personnel including undercover patrol cars to the fullest, focused patrol activities were conducted in traffic accident-prone areas, resulting in a 39.6% average daily decrease in traffic accidents compared to the previous year.
Efforts were also made to ensure communication and alleviate public inconvenience by providing real-time traffic information and promoting safe driving practices such as preventing drowsy driving and wearing seat belts in all seats.
