'Unauthorized Large Entertainment Facility' Detected in Cheongdam Location
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A business owner and employees who operated a general restaurant as an unauthorized entertainment facility were caught by the police.
On the 8th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station announced that on the 6th, they booked and are investigating a total of five people, including one business owner and four employees, at an entertainment bar located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, on charges of violating the Food Sanitation Act.
The police stated that during an inspection of establishments suspected of drug-related crimes, they confirmed that the establishment was an illegal entertainment bar.
The establishment was approximately 108 pyeong in size, with eight rooms set up for illegal customer service activities. Special lighting was installed there, and alcohol was being sold to customers.
Meanwhile, since the 26th of last month, the police have formed a joint inspection team with local governments and fire departments to crack down on such activities. Earlier this month, the police also caught two entertainment establishments operating illegally.

A police official said, "We are currently investigating eight business owners who have been caught so far and will check for any additional illegal activities," adding, "The joint inspection team will continue inspections and crackdowns on entertainment facilities until the end of this year to prevent the spread of drugs."
