[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Korea and Japan from the 25th to the 29th, the White House announced on the 7th (local time).
Vice President Harris will first attend the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, held by the Japanese government on the 27th, as the representative of the U.S. government. The list of other U.S. government condolence delegations will be announced later.
The White House stated in a press release, "The Vice President will emphasize that Prime Minister Abe's leadership played a crucial role in honoring his legacy, maintaining the U.S.-Japan alliance, and advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific."
After visiting Japan, Vice President Harris will move to Korea on the 29th.

The White House said that during her visit to Korea and Japan, Vice President Harris is scheduled to meet with senior government officials and representatives of civil society. A U.S. government official told CNN, "Vice President Harris is expected to meet both President Yoon Suk-yeol and Prime Minister Kishida Fumio during her tour."
