KIPO and Samsung Electronics Hold Technology Cooperation and Investment Attraction Briefing Session
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] On the 7th, the Korean Intellectual Property Office announced that it held the ‘Technology Cooperation and Investment Attraction Briefing (Biz Technology Briefing)’ at the aT Center in Seoul together with Samsung Electronics and the Korea Institute for Patent Strategy Development.
The briefing was organized to expand opportunities for technology cooperation and investment attraction for small and venture companies that have received patent technologies transferred from universities and public research institutes.
About 200 people, including executives and researchers from 66 Samsung Electronics partner companies seeking new technology development and new business opportunities, attended the event.
At the briefing, successful cases of patent technology transfer and commercialization from universities and public research institutes, presentations on intellectual property strategies for realizing high value-added research and development (R&D), and introductions of 34 excellent technologies related to eco-friendly materials, high-performance materials and components, and high-performance and high-efficiency equipment were conducted.
In particular, on-site consultations were held for the transfer of 162 excellent patents opened by Samsung Electronics in semiconductors, mobile, home appliances, and other fields. In addition, explanations and consultations on the Small and Medium Business Corporation’s technology commercialization capacity enhancement project and the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency’s trade secret protection support project were also conducted.
Kang Yoon-seok, Team Leader of the Idea Economy Innovation Team at the Korean Intellectual Property Office, said, “We will continue to expand opportunities for meetings between technology demanders and suppliers to promote the transfer and commercialization of public technologies from universities and public research institutes.”
