[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that it will operate the online citizen health walking 100-day project, the ‘Baegunsan Dullegil Walking Challenge,’ for the second consecutive year to revitalize citizens’ weary daily lives due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This challenge is based on GPS signals and designates some of the best walking paths among Baegunsan Dullegil courses 1 to 8, a famous mountain trail in Gwangyang. It will be held from September 12 to December 20. If participants walk more than 80% of the designated section and click ‘Receive’ on the coupon, the coupon will be automatically issued to their gift box.
To participate, install the mobile walking app WalkOn, join the official Gwangyang City community, then click ‘Participate’ in the trophy-shaped challenge tab for the Gwangyang Baegunsan Dullegil Walking Challenge, and walk along the route for each course.
Before walking, participants must take a certification photo at the location where the ‘Baegunsan Dullegil Walking Challenge’ banner is hung for each course, and after completing the final destination, upload all photos at once on the bulletin board to be finally selected.
One coupon is issued upon completion of each course. Mobile cultural gift certificates are distributed according to the number of coupons obtained: ▲30,000 KRW worth to 150 people who receive all 8 coupons ▲20,000 KRW worth to 200 people who receive 6 to 7 coupons ▲10,000 KRW worth to 450 people who receive 4 or more coupons, totaling 800 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
Important points to note: fully charge your battery before walking, turn on location information and data in your smartphone settings, and set both battery management mode and location recording to normal mode in the WalkOn settings.
Seo Yeong-ok, Director of Health Promotion Division, said, “As the season for walking arrives, I hope families walk the Baegunsan Dullegil together to form emotional healing and healthy habits,” and added, “We expect many citizens to actively join the WalkOn community and participate in the walking challenge to establish a walking culture.”
