"Establishing a Reliable Data Management System"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] LifeSemantics announced on the 6th that it has become the first company in the telemedicine industry to obtain the ‘Information Security and Personal Information Protection Management System (ISMS-P) certification’ from the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).
The ISMS-P certification is issued by KISA after an evaluation based on standards jointly announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Personal Information Protection Commission. To obtain this certification, all 102 areas must be met, including 80 information security-related items and 22 personal information protection items.
The scope of the ISMS-P certification covers all major digital healthcare services such as DoctorCall, Oha, Hi, and Epilcare, which are built on LifeSemantics’ B2B cloud service LifeRecord for medical MyData. The certification is valid for three years.
LifeSemantics, a company that owns a personal health record platform, explained that it pursued the ISMS-P certification to elevate the protection management system level of medical data, which is classified as sensitive information and requires high security.
In addition to the ISMS-P certification, LifeSemantics currently holds international standards certifications including ISO27001 (Information Security Management System), ISO27017 (Cloud Service Information Security), ISO27799 (Health Informatics Security Management System), ISO27701 (Privacy Information Management System), and HIPAA compliance certification. Moving forward, the company plans to expand advisory activities to promote the need for establishing highly reliable information security systems across industries.
