Wando-gun Enters Emergency Preparedness for Typhoon Hinnamnor
County Governor Shin Woo-cheol Conducts On-Site Inspection of Disaster-Vulnerable Areas
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Jeonnam Wando-gun conducted a special on-site inspection of disaster-vulnerable areas on the 3rd to minimize typhoon damage, as Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’ is expected to approach South Korea more quickly and closely with strong force, directly affecting the region.
On that day, Shin Woo-cheol, the governor of Wando-gun, visited ship mooring yards such as Daesin Port and Jeongdo Port in Wando-eup, and Wondong Port in Gunoe-myeon to check the evacuation status of fishing vessels and inspect drainage conditions and facilities in frequently flooded areas.
He also informed residents about action guidelines during the typhoon’s arrival and urged them to prepare thoroughly for the typhoon.
Meanwhile, the county is conducting surveillance activities in flood-prone areas and landslide risk zones, inspecting hydraulic facilities such as reservoirs and pumping stations, pre-evacuating disaster-vulnerable groups including elderly living alone, and operating a comprehensive disaster situation room to disseminate information via disaster messages, making every effort to prepare for the typhoon.
In addition, department and eup/myeon staff will maintain emergency duty and communication systems to proactively respond to the typhoon situation.
Shin Woo-cheol, governor of Wando-gun, stated, “Above all, the safety of the residents is most important, so not a single casualty should occur,” and added, “The county will not relax its vigilance and will do its best to strengthen safety measures and prepare for the typhoon to minimize damage to residents’ lives and property.”
