Opening of the National Assembly Saengsaeng Garden Planting the Value of Urban Agriculture
[Jindo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do promoted the agricultural and marine specialty products of the treasure island Jindo at the opening ceremony of the '2022 National Assembly Saengsaeng Garden.'
At the opening ceremony held on the afternoon of the 1st (Thursday) at the Saengsaeng Garden near the National Assembly Members' Hall, a booth was operated to promote about 20 types of agricultural and marine specialty products such as turmeric, goji berries, and seaweed.
The event, hosted by the National Assembly Saengsaeng Garden Association (Chairman Kim Jin-pyo, Speaker of the National Assembly) and sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and Asia Seed, was attended by Jindo-gun and the Korea Pork Producers Association as invited organizations and groups.
The event featured activities such as planting seedlings of kimchi vegetables like cabbage and radish, as well as leafy vegetables, with about 200 participants including Speaker of the National Assembly Kim Jin-pyo, ruling and opposition party lawmakers, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and the chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, providing an opportunity to reflect on the value of urban agriculture.

The National Assembly Saengsaeng Garden was created in 2015, led by Speaker of the National Assembly Jeong Ui-hwa and former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, by removing the lawn near the Members' Hall and preparing the land to make a garden, with a vision to realize the value of coexistence through cooperation between ruling and opposition parties, national harmony, and communication between urban and rural areas.
