The base fare for taxis in Seoul is expected to increase by 1,000 won (14.1%) from the current 3,800 won to 4,800 won next year. The base distance will also be shortened from the existing 2 km to 1.6 km, and the fixed late-night surcharge rate of 20% will be expanded up to a maximum of 40%. The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it has prepared a "Fare Plan to Alleviate Late-Night Taxi Shortages" including these details and submitted it to the Seoul Metropolitan Council for feedback.
