SK Rent-a-Car Continues 'Jeju One Meal Sharing On(溫)Tact Project' Following Last Year
Delivering 4 Meals Worth of Meal Kits to About 800 Seniors for Chuseok
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] SK Rent-a-Car announced on the 2nd that about 80 employees, including those from SK FinX and the Jeju Senior Welfare Center, spent time the previous day personally delivering meal kits to approximately 800 elderly people facing food insecurity.
The meal kits provided this time were tailored to the seniors' preferences and included dishes such as galbitang (beef short rib soup), samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), bulgogi, and miyeokguk (seaweed soup). They were designed with consideration for both the seniors' health and taste, providing enough food for about four meals per person.
Members of the SK Rent-a-Car Jeju branch who participated in the volunteer activity said, “Seeing the warm welcome from the seniors touched our hearts and made us proud,” adding, “As the saying goes, volunteering makes the heart richer. Through this activity, we will not only support the company’s efforts but also engage in other activities to become ‘rich in heart.’”
SK Rent-a-Car has been supporting food-insecure seniors in Jeju Island since last year. In May, they signed a two-year consecutive business agreement for the ‘One Meal Sharing On(Tact) Project’ with Jeju Provincial Government and SK FinX, delivering a total of 100 million KRW in sponsorship funds to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Senior Welfare Center and Seogwipo Senior Welfare Center. This year’s sponsorship funds are planned to be used by the end of the year for about 2,300 people across 10 locations, including senior welfare centers and nursing facilities in various local governments.
Additionally, SK Rent-a-Car participated in the ‘Happy Two Meals Project’ in April with the lifestyle furniture brand Illoom, supporting a total of 52 million KRW in happy lunchbox project funds for about 80 children at risk of food insecurity in Seogwipo City.
