Lotte Confectionery Wins Two Main Awards at the 2022 Red Dot Design Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Lotte Confectionery announced on the 2nd that its flagship products ‘Pepero’ and ‘Seolleim’ won the main prize in the 'Brand & Communication Design' category at the '2022 Red Dot Design Award.'
The Red Dot Design Award is a globally prestigious design competition, considered one of the world's top three design awards alongside the 'iF Award' and 'IDEA.' Judging is conducted across three categories: Brand & Communication Design, Product Design, and Design Concept.
Pepero received high praise for design elements that appeal attractively to the MZ (Millennial + Generation Z) generation. Pepero boldly used high-chroma colors that catch the eye and applied a simple layout that clearly highlights the flavor characteristics. It also incorporated a Sweet Eco Folding line that facilitates easy separation for recycling, reflecting an eco-friendly consideration.
Seolleim, which won the same award, was positively evaluated for its package design that well captures the features of the recently upgraded product. The increased milk content enriching the taste and texture was reflected in the logo, and based on this expression, the Seolleim font was developed and distributed for free, allowing consumers to experience the product and brand in more places.
Lotte Confectionery has been continuously submitting products to various domestic and international design awards every year, making efforts to strengthen its design capabilities. Since 2014, it has won a total of 19 awards at various domestic and international competitions. In the case of Pepero, it has won main prizes at various international design awards for five consecutive years up to this year. Lotte has integrated all food company design centers into the Lotte Central Research Institute and deployed specialized personnel to strengthen design capabilities.
