Jangseong-gun Supports Strawberry Farms with 'Hwa-a Bunhwa' Inspection

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, supports ‘flower bud differentiation’ inspection to improve the income of strawberry farms.

According to the county on the 1st, ‘flower bud differentiation’ is a phenomenon where plants develop flower buds when they have the necessary nutrients and environment, and it is a very important stage in determining the strawberry planting time.

By checking the progress of flower bud differentiation under a microscope and planting strawberry seedlings at the appropriate time, farmers can expect a uniform harvest when the harvest season arrives. However, if strawberry seedlings are planted before flower bud differentiation progresses, the harvest time is delayed and the yield decreases, leading to reduced farm income.

Accordingly, the Jangseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center will conduct flower bud differentiation inspections for three weeks starting from this day so that strawberry farms can plant strawberry seedlings at the optimal time.

Farmers who wish to have the inspection can visit the 1st floor Horticultural Income Division of the Agricultural Technology Center with strawberry seedlings aged 3 to 5 weeks.

A county official said, “Since flower bud differentiation inspection is the first step to producing high-quality strawberries, we hope farmers plant strawberry seedlings only after the differentiation inspection.”

Meanwhile, the strawberry cultivation area in the county is 91 hectares (228 farms), ranking second in Jeollanam-do in terms of cultivation area.

As the cultivation area increases every year, the county is promoting various facility supports and technical education such as the installation of nurseries and shading facilities for producing high-quality strawberry seedlings.
