'Museum Comes Alive' Event... Andong City Museum to Hold Every Weekend in September
Wang Geon, Gyeon Hwon, Toegye Yi Hwang, Momokaturi, Hahoe Masks, and More: "See You at the Event!"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Andong City Museum will hold the “The Museum is Alive” event every weekend (except during the Chuseok holiday) from September 3 to 25 at the Traditional Culture Contents Museum and the surrounding area of Ungbu Park.
This event, prepared to revitalize the museum, allows visitors to directly meet the characters from the exhibition contents of the Traditional Culture Contents Museum, such as “Battle of Gochang,” “Mom Katuri,” “Hahoe Mask Dance UCC,” and “Jangwon Geupje Play,” within the museum exhibition rooms and throughout Ungbu Park.
Additionally, various programs will be conducted to help visitors more easily understand and develop interest in the traditional culture of the Andong region.
“Battle of Gochang” is an animated content depicting the battle in which Goryeo’s King Taejo Wang Geon defeated Later Baekje’s Gyeon Hwon, leading to the unification of the Later Three Kingdoms under Goryeo.
Visitors can directly meet Wang Geon and Gyeon Hwon from the content to experience the Chajeon game, and also meet An Jung Halmae, who helped Goryeo’s victory using Gosamju.
“Hahoe Mask Dance UCC” is an experiential content where visitors learn the dance moves of the Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori using chroma key techniques. When visitors participate, they can experience the appearance of a nobleman and an ox wearing puppet masks dancing together.
“Jangwon Geupje Play” is an experiential content created by borrowing the Jonggyeongdo play (a game played indoors by students or women attending Seodang during the Joseon Dynasty) and Seodang education format.
The content brings Toegye and Confucian scholars into reality, allowing visitors to play Yutnori and Chinese character guessing games together, with snacks given as gifts.
On September 3, during the event, the Katuri Squadron will also participate, where Kkongji and Durie from “Mom Katuri” will perform rhythmic movements with visitors and have photo sessions together.
A souvenir giveaway event will also be held during the event period.
In connection with the Goryeo costume experience conducted by the Urban Regeneration Support Center, visitors who come to the event wearing Goryeo costumes or Hanbok will receive a hand mirror as a gift.
Visitors who write a review of their participation in the event on their personal SNS will be given differentiated specialty products made by young designers from Andong.
The director of Andong City Museum said, “We hope that this ‘The Museum is Alive’ event will serve as an opportunity to further raise interest in our region’s traditional culture, and we will continue to strive to make the Traditional Culture Contents Museum a place of historical education that widely promotes the precious traditional culture of the region.”
