Gwangju University Department of Architecture Alumni and Architects Representatives Pledge 100 Million KRW for University Development Fund
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 30th that alumni of the Department of Architecture and representatives of local architectural firms pledged a development fund of 100 million won.
On the same day, Gwangju University held the 'Gwangju University Department of Architecture (5-year program) Development Fund Pledge Ceremony' in the school administration building meeting room.
At the pledge ceremony, key officials including President Kim Dongjin and Vice President Kim Gap-yong, professors of the Department of Architecture, Shin Jeongcheol, CEO of D.A.G. Architects, Ma Jaewan, CEO of Garim Architects Co., Ltd. (Vice President of the Architecture Alumni Association), Jeong Myeonghwan, CEO of Jieun Architects Co., Ltd. (Adjunct Professor of Architecture), Lee Hyunjo, CEO of Rigaon Architects Co., Ltd., Chae Seunghoon, President of DI-zer Architects Co., Ltd., Lim Taeyoung, CEO of Plan Architects Co., Ltd. (Adjunct Professor of Architecture), and Kim Gijun, CEO of Max U Engineering Architects Co., Ltd. (Adjunct Professor of Architecture) attended.
The development fund will be used for preparing architectural accreditation for the Department of Architecture, supporting the department, and improving the educational environment.
CEO Shin Jeongcheol said, "Graduates of Gwangju University's Department of Architecture play an important role in the region and form the foundation of the architectural community, so the school and current students can take pride in this." He added, "We will continue to actively support the cultivation of outstanding talent together with alumni and local architectural representatives."
President Kim Dongjin stated, "Gwangju University will strive to grow as an innovative university that develops together with the Department of Architecture alumni and the local community." He also said, "We will nurture talent who can play a pivotal role in the field and will not forget our gratitude for the development fund donations, ensuring to assist where needed."
