[2023 Early Admission] Korea University Establishes Contract Departments with Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor Company
Korea University will select 2,533 students in the 2023 academic year early admission. It will select 870 students through the Student Record (School Curriculum) Screening, 1,593 students through the Comprehensive Student Record Screening, and 70 students through the Practical Skills and Achievements Screening. From the 2023 academic year, the Next-Generation Communication Department (in partnership with Samsung Electronics) and the Smart Mobility Department (in partnership with Hyundai Motor Company) will be newly established as employment-conditional contract departments, and some students will be selected through the Comprehensive Student Record Screening.
The Student Record Screening (School Recommendation) is a unified selection process that combines 80% of the school record (curriculum) and 20% of documents, followed by the application of minimum CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) score requirements. Since the curriculum grades are quantitatively evaluated, it is advantageous for students who have diligently completed their studies. Unlike the Student Record Screening, the Comprehensive Student Record Screening (General Screening - Academic Excellence Type, General Screening - Field Suitability Type, Equal Opportunity) comprehensively evaluates all records centered on the school record. It is a qualitative evaluation that considers the applicant's strengths and individual characteristics. For the Comprehensive Screening (General - Academic Excellence Type), in the first stage, 6 times the number of applicants are selected based on 100% document screening, and in the second stage, 70% of the first stage score and 30% of the interview score are combined. A 6-minute text-based interview is conducted, and minimum CSAT score requirements are applied.
For the Comprehensive Screening (General - Field Suitability Type), in the first stage, 5 times the number of applicants are selected based on 100% document screening, and in the second stage, 60% of the first stage score and 40% of the interview score are combined. A 7-minute text-based interview is conducted, and minimum CSAT score requirements are not applied.
For the Comprehensive Screening (Equal Opportunity), in the first stage, 3 times the number of applicants are selected based on 100% document screening, and in the second stage, 70% of the first stage score and 30% of the interview score are combined. A 6-minute text-based interview is conducted, and for those who graduated from specialized high schools and are currently employed, a 5-minute document-based interview is conducted. Minimum CSAT score requirements are not applied. Early admission application submission is from September 13 to 15, and interviews will be conducted face-to-face.
