Gwangju Bank Conducts 'Hangawi Warmth Package' Sharing Volunteer Activity
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 29th, Gwangju Bank carried out a volunteer activity distributing ‘Hangawi Warmth Packages’ at the Gwangju Nam-gu Volunteer Center located in Baegun-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Supporting the healthy summer of local seniors, Gwangju Bank began its samgyetang meal distribution volunteer activity on the 13th of last month at the Gwangsan-gu Deobureorak Senior Welfare Center in Gwangju. Afterwards, the bank continued healthy meal distribution volunteer activities at senior welfare centers in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, Buk-gu, Gwangju, and Seo-gu, Gwangju.
At the Gwangju Nam-gu Volunteer Center, where the fifth relay volunteer activity took place, due to infection prevention measures amid the recent resurgence of COVID-19, instead of meal distribution, volunteers directly prepared ‘Hangawi Warmth Packages’ in celebration of the upcoming Chuseok holiday and delivered them to the homes of local seniors.
About 20 people, including Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, Kim Byung-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and Gwangju Bank executives and employees, participated in the volunteer activity. They prepared 300 boxes of ‘Hangawi Warmth Packages’ containing ingredients to help prepare holiday foods such as sesame oil, apples, pears, songpyeon (rice cakes), yugwa (traditional sweets), eggs, soy sauce, pancake mix, and frying mix.
The ‘Hangawi Warmth Packages’ will be delivered to the homes of seniors through the Gwangju Nam-gu Volunteer Center.
Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, said, “Following our support for the healthy summer of local seniors, I hope that this volunteer activity sharing the warmth of the holiday will bring great comfort and strength to the seniors. As a representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam, we will continue volunteer activities for the underprivileged in the region and spread a corporate culture of sharing and volunteering in the local community.”
Meanwhile, Gwangju Bank has annually conducted meal distribution volunteer activities serving nutritious food to local seniors by visiting senior welfare facilities in regions such as Gwangju, Mokpo, and Suncheon every summer. After a period of social distancing and personnel restrictions due to COVID-19 prevention guidelines, the bank is planning social contribution activities that can help more seniors in the region by resuming various sharing volunteer activities.
