Yoo Seung-min: "President Yoon's text caused this chaos... He must honestly accept responsibility"
The People Power Party's caucus conclusion is a pathetic act defying public sentiment
We must find the right answer from a blank slate
"No one knows who will handle nominations in 2024"
"Disciplining with a facade is something even dogs and goats would laugh at"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol's conduct regarding the internal turmoil within the People Power Party and demanded that he take responsibility. He also called on the People Power Party to hold another party meeting, urging them to "find the correct answer again from a blank slate."
On the 28th, former lawmaker Yoo said through social media (SNS), "I offer a word of advice to President Yoon. The reason for the birth of the Emergency Response Committee was the president's text messages of ‘internal backstabbing, cherry thumbs-up’," adding, "It is neither honest nor dignified to consistently feign ignorance about the chaos caused by his own messages and to control the party from behind the scenes."
He said, "I hope the president will honestly acknowledge his responsibility for all these problems and play a role in allowing the party and government to make a fresh start."
He also criticized the response plan decided by the People Power Party at the party meeting held the previous day. Former lawmaker Yoo said, "The conclusion of yesterday’s party meeting, ‘maintaining the Emergency Response Committee and additional disciplinary action against Representative Lee,’ is a pathetic act that directly defies the people and public sentiment," adding, "The conclusion from yesterday should be thrown into the trash bin, and the correct answer should be found again from a blank slate."
Regarding the conclusion of yesterday’s party meeting, he said, "They are afraid because they expect that President Yoon and his close aides will freely decide the 2024 general election nominations," and criticized, "They are acting foolishly as ordered by those in power because they are worried about their own nominations."
Former lawmaker Yoo said, "There is no need to watch the president and his close aides nervously because of nomination worries," and added, "No one knows who will actually decide the general election nominations."
A warning was also issued regarding the Ethics Committee, which decided to suspend People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok’s party membership for six months and is facing demands for additional disciplinary actions.

Former lawmaker Yoo said, "The disciplinary action against the leader should have been taken only after the police investigation results were out, but the Ethics Committee pushed it through like a gang," adding, "If they impose additional disciplinary actions as a ‘sheep’s head with a dog’s meat’ (양두구육), even sheep and dogs would laugh." He urged, "I hope the Ethics Committee chair and external ethics members pledge not to run in the next general election to prove their fairness."
