Trade Associations Provide Post-Export Support... Expected Expansion into North and Latin American Markets
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that "eight small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province achieved 249 export consultation cases worth $7,935,100 at the largest North American consumer goods exhibition."
The '2022 Autumn Las Vegas Consumer Goods Exhibition (ASD Market Week),' held over four days from the 21st in Las Vegas, USA, featured participation from over 1,500 companies from 75 countries worldwide, showcasing gift items, promotional and advertising products, fancy and character goods, cosmetics and beauty products, home fashion and interior items, and food products.
At the Gyeonggi Province booth, tableware and kitchenware, nail care, hair products, sports goods, and packaging containers produced by eight SMEs in the province attracted significant attention.
The province and the Korea International Trade Association supported local booth setup and operation, interpretation and consultation with visiting buyers, shared vehicles, and one-way air transportation fees.
The province expects this to serve as a stepping stone for local companies to enter the North American market, noting that buyers are increasingly seeking Korean products as alternatives to Chinese imports following the US-China trade conflict, and that demand for Korean products with excellent quality competitiveness in the consumer goods sector is rising.
To maximize results, the province plans to provide post-export support such as contract documentation and certification assistance for participating companies.

Park Geun-gyun, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Foreign Affairs and Trade Division, stated, "Due to rising oil prices, interest rates, and exchange rates, the trade environment for small export companies in the province is challenging, and opportunities to meet overseas buyers directly are very limited. Going forward, Gyeonggi Province will actively support SMEs' participation in overseas exhibitions to expand their overseas sales channels."
