View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Hyundai Engineering & Construction has obtained a Grade 1 certification issued by a nationally accredited institution for its noise reduction technology between floors.
On the 24th, Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced that it acquired the Grade 1 certification in both lightweight and heavyweight impact sound categories in the floor impact sound performance rating conducted by the LH Quality Testing Accreditation Center, an institution designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction is the first company in Korea to secure Grade 1 certifications in all categories of the floor impact sound performance rating. The company developed the 'H Silent Home System' and was the first domestic construction company to have its noise reduction technology between floors recognized on-site rather than in a laboratory in May last year, securing Grade 1 technology in August of the same year. To commercialize the technology, certification from a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport accredited institution is essential.
The recently certified Grade 1 performance for blocking heavyweight impact sound is awarded when the noise transmitted to the lower floor is at or below 40dB. Heavyweight impact sound refers to noise generated by heavy and large impacts such as adult footsteps or children running. Grade 1 indicates a noise blocking standard where strong impact sounds from the upper floor are difficult to perceive, while most existing apartments have blocking performance corresponding to Grade 4, the legal standard for heavyweight impact sound blocking.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction maximized the performance of the 'floating floor structure' by applying a construction method using high-density specialized mortar, special materials, and high-performance cushioning materials. Tests were conducted on various layouts, including typical sizes such as 59㎡ and 84㎡, as well as small and large units, undergoing multifaceted evaluations.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction plans to standardize the construction method of the floor system that received this certification, apply it to pilot sites, and prepare long-term quality assurance measures to complete commercialization preparations within 2023.
