Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Gangwon Province Hold '2022 Urban Regeneration Festival'
As a Platform for Sharing the New Government's Vision and Policy Directions
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Wanyong] The 7th annual "2022 Urban Regeneration Festival" will be held for three days starting from the 31st at the Torisup Urban Forest Park area in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do.
The event is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Gangwon Province, and Hongcheon County, and organized by the Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation. It aims to share the achievements of urban regeneration projects since the enactment of the Urban Regeneration Act, as well as the government's new vision and policy directions.
In particular, as this is the first event held after the new government's urban regeneration promotion plan was established, it provides an opportunity to present and share the government's vision for urban regeneration with local governments and to propose various discussions and ideas.
Additionally, through contests and competitions, attendees can vividly experience major achievements related to urban regeneration, such as region-specific cases utilizing local unique assets and balanced development cases involving both local communities and the private sector.
Furthermore, local government exhibition halls showcasing excellent urban regeneration cases by region will be operated to offer various attractions, and tour programs that general visitors can directly participate in have also been prepared.

Kim Sangseok, head of the Urban Regeneration Project Planning Group at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, “The government will strive to maximize effects such as regional economic revitalization and job creation by promoting urban space recreation through the creation of economic hubs and region-specific regeneration according to the new urban regeneration promotion direction.”
