23.8% of Used Goods App Users Experience Damage... Average Satisfaction Score 3.48 Points

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Recently, transactions using secondhand trading applications (apps) have been increasing, with 23.8% of users reporting having experienced damages. Additionally, satisfaction with secondhand trading apps was relatively lower compared to other service sectors.
According to a survey conducted on the 23rd by the Korea Consumer Agency targeting 1,150 consumers aged 10 to 50 who had used the apps Danggeun Market, Bungaejangter, Junggonara, and Hello Market within the last three months, the overall satisfaction score for these four apps averaged 3.48 on a 5-point scale. By service provider, Bungaejangter scored the highest with 3.63 points, followed by Danggeun Market (3.60 points), Hello Market (3.48 points), and Junggonara (3.22 points). The difference in overall satisfaction between Bungaejangter and Danggeun Market was within the margin of error.
In terms of category-specific satisfaction, service product satisfaction?which evaluates core services such as traded items and transaction information?was the highest at an average of 3.64 points, while service experience satisfaction was the lowest at 3.24 points. Among service quality factors, efficiency satisfaction related to the menu configuration of secondhand trading apps was the highest at 3.68 points, whereas empathy satisfaction related to resolving customer dissatisfaction was the lowest at 3.46 points. Regarding service product factors, satisfaction with the variety and quality of items traded was the highest at 4.01 points, while customer center satisfaction was the lowest at 3.48 points.
In the usage status survey, 23.8% responded that they had experienced consumer damages. Among the functions of secondhand trading apps, the chat function received the highest satisfaction rate at 31.4%. This was followed by transaction and purchase safety service functions (17.0%) and seller identity verification functions (16.0%).

The average transaction amount per transaction was between 10,000 KRW and less than 30,000 KRW for 40.3% of respondents, followed by between 50,000 KRW and less than 100,000 KRW at 21.7%. The average transaction amount was 48,891 KRW. The main transaction method was non-face-to-face transactions using delivery services at 51.3%, which was higher than face-to-face transactions. Regarding usage scope, 59.7% used the apps for both buying and selling, which was higher than those who only purchased (22.9%) or only sold (17.4%).
