CGV Avoids Closing 'Myeongssine'... Agrees to 2-Year Extension
Independent and Art Film Theaters Are Being Reduced
CGV will extend the operation of Myeongdong Station Cine Library. On the 16th, it was announced that they recently agreed with the landlord to extend the lease for two years. Myeongdong Station Cine Library is a dedicated theater for independent and art films. Due to high building rent and a limited number of viewers, it was planned to close as soon as the lease contract ended. Although closure was narrowly avoided, only two out of the five theaters will continue to screen independent and art films. The 'Kim Ki-young Hall,' dedicated to the late director Kim Ki-young, will be maintained as is. The film-specialized library, housing about 11,000 volumes, will also continue to operate.
