'30th Anniversary of Seoul Institute' Seminar: '30 Years of Seoul Research, Exploring Together and Finding Value'
Reviewing Research Achievements in Social, Industry & Economy, and Administration Fields and Exploring Future Directions
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Institute will hold the first commemorative planning seminar for its 30th anniversary on the 11th under the theme "30 Years of Seoul Research, Finding Value Together."
This policy seminar is an opportunity to reexamine 30 years of Seoul city policy research by sector and discuss the evolution of policies over time. The seminar will be held simultaneously online and offline in the main conference room of the Seoul Institute on the 11th.
The first part will consist of presentations in three fields: social, economic & industrial, and urban management. First, in the social sector, Baek Seon-hye, Director of the Urban Society Research Division at the Seoul Institute, will present on "30 Years of Leading Social Policy Research to Solve Social Problems." In the economic and industrial sector, Park Hee-seok, Senior Research Fellow of the Citizen Economy Research Division at the Seoul Institute, will follow with a presentation titled "From Establishing an Industrial Economic Base to a City of International Competitiveness: Toward a New Leap." In the urban management sector, Lee Jun-young, Research Fellow of the Urban Management Research Division at the Seoul Institute, will present on "Urban Management Research to Enhance Seoul City's Administrative Capacity."
The second part is a discussion session planned to propose the role and future research directions of the Seoul Institute, featuring past researchers of the institute. Various opinions will be expressed. The discussion will be chaired by Lee Chang-hyun, the 13th President of the Seoul Institute, and will include ▲ Jo In-dong, former 1st Deputy Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan Government ▲ Kim Kyung-hye, former Vice President of the Seoul Institute ▲ Shin Chang-ho, Director of the Regional Economy Research Institute at the Knowledge Culture Foundation (former Vice President of the Seoul Institute) ▲ Kim Chan-dong, Professor of Public Administration at Chungnam National University (former Research Fellow at the Seoul Institute), along with the three presenters.

Park Hyung-soo, President of the Seoul Institute, said, "To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the institute's founding, we planned this seminar to look back on the past 30 years of research and create an opportunity to use yesterday as a mirror." He added, "We aim to deeply examine the past and present to lead Seoul's policies for the next 30 years."
