Jeonnam Fire Department Strengthens Safety Management Including Special Fire Inspections at Movie Theaters
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced on the 3rd that it will conduct a special fire safety inspection of 22 movie theaters in the province until the end of August.
With the easing of social distancing measures leading to a surge in movie theater attendance, fires occurred at movie theaters in Seoul on June 27 and July 9.
Fortunately, there were no casualties from the fires, but concerns were raised that the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic had reduced the number of movie theater staff, weakening the safety management capabilities of personnel responsible for evacuation guidance.
This special fire safety inspection will focus on ▲ the maintenance and management status of safety facilities, ▲ compliance with obligations by multi-use business owners, ▲ the appropriateness of evacuation maps and videos, and ▲ closure or locking of emergency exits and the placement of obstacles on evacuation stairs.
Additionally, fire safety consulting will be conducted concurrently regarding the theaters’ own safety management, initial evacuation of people, situation communication, fire facility maintenance guidelines, and safety management of cooling equipment to ensure that a safety management system for related personnel is established.
