Gwangju Seo-gu Confirms Mayor's Pledge Projects for the 8th Term of Civilian Administration

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim I-gang) announced on the 2nd that it finalized the '8th Term Elected District Mayor's Pledge Projects' on the 29th of last month.

Seo-gu finalized 5 major areas, 21 pledges, and 49 tasks after review by the relevant departments regarding the feasibility and effectiveness of the promises made by District Mayor Kim I-gang since his declaration of candidacy, followed by deliberation by the Seo-gu Regional Development Advisory Committee composed of 23 experts from various fields.

The main pledges for the 8th term include ▲Strengthening the functions of our neighborhood village government ▲Establishment and operation of a Small Business Vitality Support Center ▲Providing a stepping stone for small business recovery ▲Building the ‘Together Seo-gu Care System’ ▲Realizing Green Seo-gu as the frontline for climate crisis response ▲Creating walkable communication-themed streets ▲Supporting youth entrepreneurship tailored to the region.

These aim to realize the district administration slogan ‘Together Seo-gu, Standing Tall Seo-gu’ along with the five major district administration policies: ①Village-centered autonomous city ②Alley-centered economic city ③People-centered welfare city ④Ecology-centered safe city ⑤Happiness-centered cultural city.

The finalized 8th term elected district mayor's pledge projects will be disclosed to residents through the Seo-gu District Office website within this month after completing the confirmation procedures.

Seo-gu plans to monitor the implementation status through quarterly self-evaluations by departments on the pledge projects and annual regular evaluations by a pledge implementation evaluation group composed of residents and others, and will modify and supplement the pledges based on the results.

District Mayor Kim I-gang said, “We will do our best to improve the quality of life of residents by making their lives a little happier, a little safer, and a little more convenient through the smooth promotion of the 8th term elected pledge projects.”
