Lee Hak-su, Jeongeup Mayor, "Review and Discuss Improvement Plans for Pledge Project Implementation"
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province has analyzed the policy conditions and administrative environment following the launch of the 8th local government and has begun reviewing the implementation plans to ensure the successful promotion of campaign pledge projects.
The city announced that on the 2nd, it held a pledge project implementation report meeting in the city hall’s large conference room to expedite the fulfillment of the 8th local government’s campaign pledges.
The meeting focused on reviewing the feasibility of the implementation plans and seeking solutions to problems and improvements to systematically and substantively fulfill the 8th local government’s campaign pledges, which are promises made to the citizens.
Presided over by Mayor Lee Hak-su, the meeting was attended by senior officials including the vice mayor, bureau chiefs, and department heads.
The meeting proceeded with each department head reporting on specific execution plans such as policy goals for each pledge, project funding scale, and detailed promotion plans, followed by in-depth discussions on issues and countermeasures.
The 8th local government of Jeongeup plans to promote a total of 80 campaign pledge projects across eight sectors: 11 projects in jobs and economy, 10 in agriculture and rural areas, 9 in childcare and education, 13 in culture, tourism, and sports, 11 in health and welfare, 13 in urban, transportation, and environment, 6 in youth, small business owners, and self-employed sectors, and 7 in citizen communication and administration.
These pledge projects have been classified and planned in accordance with the city’s administrative policies to overcome population decline and the risk of local extinction, aiming for Jeongeup’s leap forward.
Representative projects include ▲establishment of a Citizen Communication Office ▲creation of an advanced agro-bio industrial complex ▲installation of a public postpartum care center and a children-only ward ▲creating a business-friendly environment and quality jobs ▲establishment of the Jeongeup Culture and Tourism Foundation and early restoration and maintenance of Gosaburi Fortress ▲creation of a pet playground ▲and building a welfare network that prevents discrimination against socially vulnerable groups.
The city plans to implement an open administration where citizens participate by installing the Citizen Communication Office, a space to narrow the psychological distance with citizens and enable empathy and communication, swiftly resolving suggestions, various grievances, and inconveniences related to city administration.
Additionally, by establishing a public postpartum care center, a comprehensive childcare support center, and a children-only ward in the southwestern region, the city plans to build a solid childcare foundation and create an educational environment that supports citizens from cradle to grave.
Alongside this, the city will strengthen support for the development of agriculture and rural areas, which are the backbone of Jeongeup, and expand smart agriculture, aiming to build an advanced city of agriculture and life sciences based on a well-established agricultural and high-tech industrial foundation.
Following revisions and supplements to the matters discussed at this meeting, the city plans to form a citizen jury in October to review the plans from the citizens’ perspective and finalize the implementation plan for the 8th local government’s campaign pledges.
To ensure the pledge projects are carried out without setbacks, the city will also conduct biannual progress checks and disclose the results on the city’s website, promoting transparent and trustworthy pledge implementation.
Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “We will faithfully fulfill the promises made to citizens with a sense of mission to realize a citizen-centered, leading Jeongeup,” and added, “We ask for the cooperation and valuable advice of all citizens to ensure that the pledges, which are commitments, are thoroughly kept.”
