This workshop was held from the 29th to the 30th of last month in a blended format combining Whale-on video conferencing and face-to-face sessions, sharing implementation research cases applying the theories and teaching techniques acquired through the catch-up training in actual classrooms.
The video conference featured a keynote lecture by Baek Ji-a, a teacher at Mokpo Sanjeong Elementary School, on unstructured teaching methods for setting level-specific and customized scaffolding.
The face-to-face blended sessions involved sharing implementation research cases applying the reading catch-up training content in actual classrooms, understanding leveled picture books, leveling commercial picture books, and creating leveled picture books as session activities.
A teacher who participated in the workshop said, “Although the reading catch-up training sometimes felt difficult in theoretical parts, I realized through practical application that students’ literacy and teachers’ professionalism are growing,” and added, “I will actively participate in the expert course training conducted in the second semester.”
Yoon Young-seop, Director of Elementary Education, said, “The reading catch-up training has been conducted for four years since 2019, producing more than 40 reading experts annually,” and added, “We will continue to expand training opportunities to solve learning difficulties caused by reading delays in school sites.”
