Composing 'Day of Industry' and 'Night of Festival' with Diverse Programs Combining Beauty Industry and Hallyu
Recruiting Participants for Three Areas: Beauty Indexpo, Business Meetup Pitching, and Young Beauty Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 1st that it will hold the global beauty festival "2022 Seoul Beauty Week," which showcases the latest beauty trends and Seoul's promising brands at a glance while allowing visitors to enjoy Seoul's cultural assets and Hallyu, for three days from September 30 to October 2 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
Held for the first time this year, "Seoul Beauty Week" is a project that fuses Seoul's cultural assets with "beauty" to create unique and attractive content exclusive to Seoul, and further establish Seoul as a "city of beautiful sensibility." It is also the first program of "Seoul Beauty Month," a festival held throughout Seoul during the entire month of October.
Seoul Beauty Week consists of "Industry Day" and "Festival Night." It is filled with support programs for revitalizing Seoul's beauty industry and content to enjoy beauty culture and Hallyu, making it accessible to beauty companies, buyers, tourists, and the general public alike.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is recruiting promising beauty companies and aspiring makeup artists to participate in three main programs of "Seoul Beauty Week," which serve as representative programs and support initiatives for industry revitalization: Beauty Indie Expo, Business Meetup Pitching, and Young Beauty Contest. The Beauty Indie Expo is recruiting about 40 companies for product exhibition and experience booths. Selected companies will have opportunities to participate in beauty programs such as filming "Get It Beauty" in collaboration with CJ OnStyle, live commerce, and special exhibitions. Starting with this online promotional support, they will gain opportunities to develop domestic and international sales channels through on-site networking, including meetings and order consultations with overseas buyers.
Business Meetup Pitching is a planned project in which five leading beauty companies?Clio (color cosmetics and marketing), Kolmar Korea (R&D and manufacturing), L'Or?al (skincare and haircare), Hwahae (platform), and Hyundai Department Store (pop-up store)?collaborate to discover promising beauty companies for sustainable growth of the beauty industry. Awardees will be given business collaboration opportunities with these leading companies.
The Young Beauty Contest aims to discover the "post Jung Saem Mool." In cooperation with the Korea Makeup Artists Association, the contest identifies aspiring makeup artists through competitions and supports their academic advancement and employment. The contest is divided into two categories: "K-Culture Makeup," featuring characters and special effects makeup from K-content such as Squid Game, and "K-Beauty Makeup," covering wedding, fashion, and photo shoot makeup.
Meanwhile, Seoul will operate October as "Seoul Beauty Month." By linking major emotional industry events in Seoul such as Seoul Fashion Week and Seoul Design 2022, the city plans to turn various locations into attractions and operate it as a city festival that offers unique and differentiated content by integrating attractions, accommodations, Hallyu, and wellness.
