"Looking for Yeongcheon" ... Yeongcheon City Opens Public Purchase of Artifacts Ahead of Municipal Museum Opening
From August 16 to 19
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Yeongcheon City, Gyeongbuk, is set to publicly purchase artifacts for four days from the 16th to the 19th ahead of the opening of the Yeongcheon City Museum.
The purchase targets materials with academic value related to Yeongcheon in fields such as archaeology, history, folklore, industrial economy, and modern and contemporary life history relevant to the museum.
Key artifacts include old documents such as maps, town records, and county records that reveal the appearance of Yeongcheon; clan-owned artifacts; documents related to Yeongcheon figures and the Yeongcheon area (such as royal edicts, official letters, household registers); materials related to exchange and transportation; documents reflecting the urban growth history of Yeongcheon; and other materials representing Yeongcheon’s unique characteristics.
Applications to sell artifacts can be submitted via email or postal mail, and anyone who owns cultural properties or individuals or corporate entities licensed to trade cultural properties may participate.
However, artifacts with unclear ownership or acquisition routes or illegal cultural properties are excluded from acceptance and purchase.
The city will decide whether to accept the submitted artifacts and, for selected artifacts, will conduct appraisals through the Artifact Appraisal Committee to evaluate purchase decisions and prices.
Purchased artifacts will be displayed through the museum’s permanent and special exhibitions.
