Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung Directed Film to Attend Toronto International Film Festival
'Hunt' Gala Presentation, 'Bohoja' Special Presentation Invitation
Director Lee Jung-jae's 'Hunt' and director Jung Woo-sung's 'The Protector' will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Toronto Film Festival announced on the 28th (Korean time) that the two films were invited to the Gala Presentation and Special Presentation sections, respectively. The Gala Presentation is a section that introduces films with broad popular appeal. Previously invited Korean films include director Kim Jee-woon's 'The Good, the Bad, the Weird (2008)', director Im Sang-soo's 'The Housemaid (2010)', and director Cho Ui-seok's 'Cold Eyes (2013)'. The Special Presentation section showcases new works by world-renowned directors or actors. Films that combine artistic merit and commercial success, such as director Bong Joon-ho's 'Mother (2009)' and 'Parasite (2019)', director Kim Jee-woon's 'I Saw the Devil (2010)' and 'The Age of Shadows (2016)', director Park Chan-wook's 'The Handmaiden (2016)', and director Kim Sung-soo's 'Asura (2016)', have mainly been screened.

'Hunt' is actor Lee Jung-jae's directorial debut. It depicts the desperate struggle of National Intelligence Service agents who suspect each other while trying to root out a spy hidden within the organization. The cast includes Lee Jung-jae, Jung Woo-sung, Jeon Hye-jin, Heo Sung-tae, and Go Yoon-jung. It will be released domestically on the 10th of next month. 'The Protector', directed by actor Jung Woo-sung, is an action film focusing on a man who is released after 10 years and wants to live an ordinary life. The cast includes Jung Woo-sung, Kim Nam-gil, Park Sung-woong, Kim Jun-han, Lee Elijah, and Park Yoo-na. Giovanna Pulvi, senior programmer of the Toronto Film Festival, explained the invitation background, saying, "It has everything that audiences want in a modern thriller film," and "The action sequences are powerful, and the characters deliver memorable performances."
