President Yoon's Approval Rating Rebounds... Media Tomato Reports a 5.4%p Increase to 36%
Negative Ratings Still at 62.0%
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] President Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating for his administration has successfully rebounded. However, negative evaluations still outweigh positive ones.
According to a public opinion poll conducted by Media Tomato on behalf of News Tomato (from the 26th to the 27th, surveying 1,047 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide), 36.0% of respondents gave a positive evaluation of President Yoon's administration (26.3% said "doing well," 9.7% said "somewhat well"), while 62.0% gave a negative evaluation (6.1% said "somewhat poorly," 55.9% said "poorly"). Those who answered "don't know" accounted for 2.0%.
This shows a 5.4% increase in positive evaluations and a 5.2% decrease in negative evaluations compared to last week's survey. In last week's poll, the positive opinion that President Yoon was doing well in governing was 30.4% (20.3% "doing well," 10.1% "somewhat well"), while the negative opinion was 67.2% (7.3% "somewhat poorly," 59.9% "poorly").
The evaluation of President Yoon's administration, which had been declining, appears to have bottomed out and is now rebounding.
However, regarding current issues such as the establishment of the Police Bureau, 29.9% support it, while 59.4% oppose it. Regarding the collective actions of the police, 56.9% view the government's response as justified, while 34.6% see it as improper.
Party support showed the Democratic Party dropping 1.5 percentage points to 48.0%, while the People Power Party rose 4 percentage points to 36.4% compared to last week's survey.
