The launch ceremony was attended by Mayor Park Dong-sik of Sacheon, Yoon Hyung-geun, chairman of the Sacheon City Council, city council members, executives of the Gyeongsangnam-do Residents' Autonomy Committee, and committee members of the Residents' Autonomy Committees.
The launch ceremony was organized to boost the pride of the Residents' Autonomy Committee members and to realize true grassroots democracy by expanding resident participation and actively collecting opinions.
Since April last year, when Sacheon-eup and Beoryong-dong were converted into Residents' Autonomy Committees, 12 myeon and dong were converted into Residents' Autonomy Committees on July 1st.

On this day, the Residents' Autonomy Committee members pledged to strive to strengthen autonomy capabilities and democratic decision-making, guarantee resident participation in all activities, and take the lead in solving community problems as community volunteers.
Mayor Park said, "Today is a meaningful day for the leap of residents' autonomy in Sacheon City. I hope that the combined capabilities of the committee members will make it a nationally exemplary Residents' Autonomy Committee," and added, "We will support the Residents' Autonomy Committees through administrative and financial assistance."
