'LIV Golf Move' Garcia Reverses DP World Tour Withdrawal, "I Want to Play Ryder Cup"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] Sergio Garcia (Spain, photo), who joined LIV Golf sponsored by Saudi Arabia, has reversed his intention to withdraw from the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour).
In an interview with ESPN in the United States on the 26th (Korean time), he revealed, "I recently met with Keith Pelley, CEO of the DP World Tour, and expressed my desire to remain a member," adding, "I conveyed my intention to fulfill the required number of tournament appearances to maintain my DP World Tour membership." Garcia plans to participate in both LIV Golf and the DP World Tour. The DP World Tour and the PGA Tour have suspended players who joined LIV Golf, which is expected to affect their participation in some majors and the Ryder Cup. Previously, the DP World Tour removed Henrik Stenson (Sweden), who joined LIV Golf, from his position as Ryder Cup captain.
