Suncheon National University Institute of Humanities Opens 'Namdohak First Steps' Lecture
'Namdo Studies Course' Operated for 40 Jeonnam Residents from September to November
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Institute of Humanities at Suncheon National University (Director Kang Seong-ho) announced on the 26th that it will open the 'First Steps in Namdo Studies' lecture for Jeonnam residents from September to November.
The course was established through the selection of the 'First Steps in Namdo Studies' program, a special course of the Residents' Happiness University hosted and sponsored by the Jeonnam Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute (Director Ko Seok-gyu).
Starting at 10 a.m. on the 3rd of next month, 40 Jeonnam residents will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis.
The curriculum consists of a common course on Namdo Studies (5 sessions), a specialized course, lectures (5 sessions) to understand the Suncheon area characterized by the cultural coexistence of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Christianity, and one field trip, totaling 11 sessions.

Kang Seong-ho, Director of the Institute of Humanities at Suncheon National University, said, "The goal of the First Steps in Namdo Studies lecture is to deeply understand Namdo, where we live, based on the historical and cultural characteristics of the Suncheon area." He added, "Through this, we aim to expand the public's awareness of Namdo Studies, further cultivate the humanities spirit of local residents, establish regional identity, foster cultural pride, and revive the spirit of Namdo as a land of loyalty and artistic tradition."
