Gwangju Seo-gu Nongsung 2-dong Welfare Association Conducts 'On Dream Project'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Community Security Council of Nongsung 2-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Do Deok-yeong) has been conducting the ‘Warm Dream Project of the Loneliness Death Prevention Officer in the Affectionate Nongi Village TogetherGO CommunicationUP’ since last month.

According to Nongsung 2-dong, Seo-gu on the 26th, the ‘Warm Dream Project of the Loneliness Death Prevention Officer’ is a 2022 Gwangju Village Welfare Community contest project carried out by the local security council. It is a project that supports the self-esteem and continuous social safety network of vulnerable middle-aged single men through the formation of self-help groups.

The project includes monthly support of side dishes and provision of healthy recipes, horticultural therapy and pottery classes, one-on-one pairing with loneliness death prevention officers and regular household visits, and cultural activities through the operation of a village theater. The project is led by local autonomous organizations and honorary social welfare officers.

On the 20th, horticultural and pottery classes were held to provide comfort and hope to the participants in their daily lives.

A resident who participated in the class said, “I was able to do things with my neighbors that I could never have imagined doing alone before, and although small, I felt true happiness,” expressing satisfaction.

Heo Soon-seok, head of Nongsung 2-dong, said, “We will do our best to strengthen the local care safety net and effectively solve various welfare problems in the community through the project.”
