US ITC Investigates Change in Origin Criteria for Certain Korean Textile Fabrics
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) announced on the 22nd (local time) that it will seek public comments on the determination to change the origin criteria for certain Korean-made yarn fabrics.
The ITC has received a request from the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) on the 5th to investigate the change in origin criteria for fabrics woven from specific triacetate filament yarns. Under the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA), textile products must meet origin criteria to receive preferential tariff benefits. However, if the raw materials necessary for production are not produced in both Korea and the U.S., a request to change the origin criteria can be made.
