Daejeon City Collects 47 Billion Won in Overdue Payments in First Half of Year
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City collected 47 billion KRW in overdue payments in the first half of this year.
On the 22nd, the city announced that it collected 27.8 billion KRW in local taxes and 19.2 billion KRW in non-tax revenues through the settlement of overdue payments in the first half of the year.
The settlement of overdue payments was carried out by forming dedicated collection teams for high-amount and habitual defaulters within the city and autonomous districts, implementing administrative sanctions such as public information registration, disclosure of names, and travel bans.
Additionally, collection efforts were reinforced by utilizing overdue collection techniques to strengthen seizure of real estate and bonds related to overdue payments.
However, the city explained that due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 and rising prices affecting the entire local community, flexible overdue payment settlements were conducted, including tax support measures such as deferral of seizure and installment payments for livelihood-type defaulters to support the resumption of economic activities.
