Under this agreement, Kia will first supply the Bongo III EV to CJ Logistics starting this year to support the transition to electric delivery trucks. Ultimately, Kia plans to develop PBVs optimized for CJ Logistics' eco-friendly logistics business and begin supplying them from 2025.
Specifically, CJ Logistics will provide detailed requirements based on their experience using the Bongo III EV, and Kia will incorporate these into the development of dedicated PBV models and improvements to the Bongo III EV's marketability. CJ Logistics will also participate in various usability tests to ensure the products are best suited for logistics transportation sites.
In addition to PBV development, the two companies will simultaneously conduct phased demonstrations of various solutions and technologies utilizing the Bongo III EV, including ▲optimization of the Bongo III EV user experience (UX), ▲innovation in loading and unloading operation efficiency, and ▲exploration of new business opportunities related to battery lifecycle.
Furthermore, in the long term, they plan to jointly promote pilot projects related to autonomous driving, such as delivery robots that carry packages and follow delivery drivers.
