Gyeongbok University to Establish Companion Animal Health Department Next Year... Recruiting 50 New Students
[Asia Economy (Namyangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeongbok University will establish a Department of Companion Animal Health.
Gyeongbok University announced on the 19th that in response to the improvement of the national standard of living and the era of 15 million companion animals in Korea, and the rapid growth of the companion animal industry, it has decided to establish the Department of Companion Animal Health next year to cultivate specialized personnel. The university plans to admit 50 freshmen in the first year.
The Department of Companion Animal Health is a three-year program designed to train animal health technicians and companion animal management experts through practical education focused on animal health technician duties, companion animal training and behavior education duties, and companion animal grooming duties.

A Gyeongbok University official explained, "We plan to cultivate specialized talents in the companion animal industry who cover all areas of the industry, including obtaining national certifications such as animal health technician, animal behavior counselor, animal-assisted psychological counselor, pet groomer, and pet trainer, as well as entrepreneurship guidance, to meet the workforce demand in the companion animal industry."
