Sampyo Cement announced on the 18th that it has invested 11 billion KRW to install a covered storage facility at its limestone storage yard in the Samcheok plant to prevent dust emissions.
The covered storage facility is a sealed raw material storage system that can fundamentally block dust generation during the storage process of limestone, the main raw material for cement.
By converting the existing storage yard, which suppressed dust through dust barriers, dust nets, and sprinkling facilities, into a covered facility, Sampyo Cement not only aligns with the government's environmental policies but also minimizes raw material loss caused by weather conditions such as rain and wind, thereby improving management efficiency.
Additionally, Sampyo Cement invests 7 to 8 billion KRW annually to reduce pollutants generated during the manufacturing process by operating prevention facilities, monitoring, and improving equipment.
Furthermore, every Wednesday is designated as 'Clean Day,' during which dust removal inside the plant and environmental cleanup activities around sidewalks and traditional markets are conducted.
Moreover, Sampyo Cement processes local waste through a combustible household waste fuel pre-treatment facility donated to Samcheok City three years ago. This facility converts 70 tons per day (approximately 20,000 tons annually) of household waste into fuel for cement production.
