Songpa-gu, Special Quarantine Focused Management for Infection-Vulnerable Facilities
Songpa-gu Elderly Medical Facilities and 670 Disability Welfare Facilities Proactively Respond to COVID-19 Resurgence
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is implementing special quarantine measures targeting 670 infection-vulnerable facilities in the area in preparation for the resurgence of COVID-19.
Since July, COVID-19 has been resurging, with daily confirmed cases approaching 40,000 and the number of critically ill patients increasing daily.
Accordingly, Songpa-gu will conduct special quarantine and mass testing until August 31 for a total of 670 facilities, including infection-vulnerable facilities such as ▲23 elderly medical welfare facilities ▲28 home-based elderly welfare facilities ▲55 disability welfare facilities ▲174 senior citizen centers ▲6 comprehensive social welfare centers ▲47 child and youth facilities ▲337 daycare centers.
Through this inspection, COVID-19 quarantine guidelines will be provided and compliance will be checked. In particular, in case of suspected symptoms, the focus will be on guiding emergency response actions such as ▲immediate testing ▲rapid isolation and management of confirmed cases to prevent further transmission ▲maintaining a constant communication system.
Especially, elderly medical welfare facilities will conduct self-quarantine at least once a week, ventilate the facilities every two hours, perform frequent disinfection, and check for symptomatic visitors including fever screening (RAT). The Songpa Senior Care Center, operated by the district, plans to conduct a simulation drill on response actions in preparation for a COVID-19 cluster infection.
Disability welfare facilities have reorganized their infectious disease response systems by facility and established an emergency contact system with related organizations. In addition, professional quarantine companies will be deployed to conduct regular disinfection at least once a month until November.
Comprehensive social welfare centers have been distributing self-diagnostic kits to elderly users since May and are providing detailed education on how to use them and how to respond if a suspected patient occurs. Daycare centers are also operating a situation response team and have supported 676 disinfection devices to 337 daycare centers in the area to thoroughly prevent the spread of COVID-19.
