KSD, H1 Short-Term Bond Fundraising 642 Trillion Won...11% Increase YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The total amount of funds raised through short-term bonds (STB) in the first half of this year amounted to 642.7 trillion won, showing an 11.3% decrease compared to the same period last year (577.4 trillion won).
According to the Korea Securities Depository on the 15th, the issuance volume of general short-term bonds was 486.5 trillion won, an increase of 15.1 trillion won (3.2%) compared to the same period last year (471.4 trillion won). The issuance volume of securitized short-term bonds was 156.2 trillion won, up 50.2 trillion won (47.7%) from 106 trillion won in the same period last year. The issuance volume of foreign currency-denominated short-term bonds was 1.328 billion dollars, down 5.4% from 1.404 billion dollars in the same period last year.
By maturity, the issuance volume within 3 months was 640.1 trillion won, accounting for 99.6% of the total. This is analyzed to be due to the current exemption benefit for submitting securities registration statements, which led to a large issuance volume within 3 months. Among these, the issuance volume of bonds maturing within 8 to 92 days was 325.7 trillion won, accounting for 50.7% of the total. Ultra-short-term issuance within 7 days was 314.4 trillion won, accounting for 48.9% of the total. The issuance volume of 1-day bonds was 187.4 trillion won, representing 29.1% of the total. The issuance volume of bonds maturing within 93 to 365 days was 2.6 trillion won, about 0.4% of the total.
By credit rating, the issuance volume of A1-rated bonds was 601 trillion won, an 11.3% increase compared to the same period last year (540 trillion won). A1-rated issuances accounted for 93.5% of the total issuance volume, which is analyzed as a continuation of the preference for safe asset investments. Issuances rated A2 and below amounted to 41.7 trillion won, up 11.5% from 37.4 trillion won in the same period last year.

By issuer industry, securities companies issued 305.7 trillion won, accounting for the largest share of 47.6% of the total issuance volume. This is a 6.5% decrease compared to the same period last year (327.1 trillion won). Securitization companies issued 156.2 trillion won, accounting for 24.3% of the total, a 47.4% increase from 106 trillion won in the same period last year. Other financial industries such as card and capital companies issued 93.7 trillion won (15.1% share), down 5.1% from 105.5 trillion won in the same period last year. General companies and public enterprises issued 83.5 trillion won (13% share), nearly doubling with a 99.8% increase compared to 41.8 trillion won in the same period last year.
