This is the story of Kim A-rim (27) and No Ye-rim (USA). The two players teamed up last year at the LPGA Tour Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational (DGLBI). It is the only ‘two-player team event’ on the LPGA Tour. The tournament, which determines the winning team through foursomes (two players alternate playing one ball) in rounds 1 and 3, and fourballs (two players each play their own ball and the better score counts) in rounds 2 and 4, showcased their perfect chemistry.
Their performance last year was also solid. They finished tied for 3rd place (19-under 261 strokes) over four days, including a 10-under on the second day. It was their best result of the last season. The two players are also doing well this year. On the second day of the DGLBI (total prize money $2.5 million) held on the 15th (Korean time) at Midland Golf Course in Michigan, USA (par 70, 6,256 yards), they shot an impressive 8-under in the fourball round to jump to a tie for 8th place (9-under 131 strokes).
Kim A-rim and No Ye-rim started tied for 12th place, 4 strokes behind, and showed flawless play by making 8 birdies. They made three consecutive birdies on holes 1 to 3 and ‘stepping stone birdies’ on holes 5 and 7 to reduce 5 strokes in the front nine, then added 3 more birdies on holes 14, 16, and 17 in the back nine. There were 3 holes where both players made birdies simultaneously. Kim A-rim made birdies on 3 holes alone, and No Ye-rim made birdies on 2 holes alone. They are 5 strokes behind the leader, and with two days remaining, a comeback is possible.

Jennifer Kupcho and Lizette Salas (both USA) are 3 strokes behind in 2nd place (11-under 129 strokes), Kang Hye-ji (32) and Tiffany Chan (Hong Kong) are tied for 3rd place (10-under 130 strokes), and ‘LPGA 41-time winner’ Karrie Webb (Australia) and Marina Alex (USA) are tied for 8th place.
