"6 out of 10 Baedal Rider Delivery Workers Experience Accidents... Spread of Culture Avoiding Excessive Labor"
Survey Conducted for Riders by Saenggakdaero
'2022 Accident Zero Saenggakdaero' Campaign Underway
"Helmet Wearing Certification... Hoping to Lay the Foundation for Spreading Safety Culture"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] It has been revealed that 6 out of 10 delivery riders have experienced accidents while on duty.
Delivery agency Saenggakdaero established an internal rider safety TF (Task Force) team last month and conducted a safe driving idea contest and accident rate survey targeting its riders.
According to the survey results on the 12th, 61% of all responding riders answered that they had experienced accidents while working. When asked about the number of accidents, 48% responded 1-2 times, 39% 3-5 times, and 13% more than 5 times. Among the 39% of accident-free riders, 75% answered "yes" when asked if there had been any risk of an accident, even though it did not lead to an accident.
When asked about the main cause of accidents or dangerous situations, 39.3% of respondents pointed to the fault of others such as traffic law violations, while 26.3% answered it was due to their own law violations or carelessness. The next highest response was 17.4%, citing environmental factors such as snow, rain, fog, and road conditions as causes.
Reflecting riders' ideas and overall survey data, the '2022 Accident Zero Saenggakdaero' campaign will be gradually implemented by the end of this year. The plan includes a helmet-wearing certification campaign and aims to gradually foster a culture that discourages speeding, traffic law violations, and excessive labor that threatens health.
